As you already know, I am a huge fan of bone broth. Broth is one of the most nutrient-dense foods that we can consume. It is rich in collagen, gelatin, amino acids and many minerals. Research and observation of traditional cultures have taught us that gelatin has many benefits including improving digestion and soothing the GI Tract. In addition, it has been found to build strong cartilage and bones and it has benefits for the skin, immune system and heart. It is a true superfood!
Unfortunately, store-bought broth does not usually offer these same benefits, as it is usually not made with real gelatin, but uses emulsifiers instead, and many use artificial flavors.
I know that not everyone likes to or has time to make their own.
Luckily, some amazing companies are popping up that are making REAL bone broth. Bare Bones Broth Co. uses organic ingredients and bones from pasture-raised animals.
AND now, Katherine and Ryan Harvey have released a book all about broth, The Bare Bones Broth Cookbook: 125 Gut-Friendly Recipes to Heal, Strengthen, and Nourish the Body.
The book is beautiful and loaded with healthy recipes, helping us get broth into our diets, in many different ways!
Including this very creative, Carrot and Orange Smoothie. My toddler actually enjoys broth, but she loved this new smoothie twist on it! Plus, it’s a great chance to get some added nutrients into her diet.
If you have children, this smoothie is a great way to get some “broth-y” goodness into their little bodies. The flavor of the broth is hidden by the sweetness of the orange and carrot, so your little ones will never know that you’re essentially feeding them a multivitamin that will help their bones and muscles to grow big and strong!
