I remember a time when the only Paleo recipe sites I knew of were Marks Daily Apple and Everyday Paleo. We used to love exchanging notes on which recipes we had tried from these blogs during our 6AM Crossfit class. I couldn’t have ever imagine a day where there are so many Paleo blogs that I love, accounts I follow on instagram and Paleo cookbooks on my bookshelf. That is a photo of my bookshelf above. That’s not even all my Paleo books, as some are out on loan! How far the Paleo movement has come is clear in the number of amazing Paleo books that hit the shelves this summer!
There are actually so many awesome books that I have divided this post in to 2 parts! Be on the lookout for part 2.

Beyond Bacon: Paleo Recipes that Respect the Whole Hog by Matthew McCarry and Stacy Toth of Paleo Parents.
I absolutely love this book. The recipes really play to how I like to cook and what I like to eat. That is what is so awesome about the variety of Paleo cookbooks currently available now, there is something for everyone! My copy is overflowing with sticky notes marking the recipes that I plan to make. So far we have made the Mexican Chorizo, Cracklin Pork Belly, and the Maple Sage Roasted Butternut Squash. They have all been incredible. There are so many more recipes we want to try, including the Best Brownies and the Apple Ginger Tenderloin. Beyond Bacon is not only packed with mouth-watering recipes, but the Paleo Parents also teach us how to find affordable pastured pork and teach us about the nutritional value of including pork in our diets. In addition, I love how the recipes are marked as easy, intermediate and difficult. I love this feature because if I don’t have a lot of time, I can flip through to find a recipe marked “easy”, but if I am going to be cooking at a leisurely pace, then I can go with “intermediate” or “difficult”. This book is elegant, informative and would look stunning on your coffee table!
Against All Grain: Delectable Paleo Recipes to Eat Well & Feel Great by Danielle Walker of Against All Grain.
This book has the power to convert anyone to a Paleo lifestyle. As you flip through the book, you realize that it is easy to eat Paleo without feeling deprived. There are a variety of recipes including breakfasts, sides, main courses and even a hefty baked goods section. The recipes are interesting yet easy to follow. We made the curried short ribs last week and they were delicious! This book makes the Paleo diet accessible and approachable. If you are new to Paleo, this is a great book to get. With the variety of recipes Danielle offers, you will never run out of lunch or dinner ideas. If you are parent, there is even a section geared towards kids. I had the pleasure of meeting Danielle at her book release party. She is lovely! She is kind and warm and her personality shines through the pages of her beautiful book!
Up until very recently, I was a major commuter. Often driving 3 hours a day to work and back. I would leave the house before 6am, so I had to pack breakfast, lunch and a snack everyday. I personally relate to this book and think that it is a much needed Paleo resource. For busy commuters, it is easy to get in the rut of eating hard boiled eggs every morning. This book will help you keep both your breakfasts and lunches exciting, even with a busy work schedule. The recipes are not only delicious and healthy, they are easy to make. Some of our favorites have been the Cherry Tarragon Breakfast Sausages, the Portable Tuscan Wrap and Sundried Tomato Rosemary Biscuits. In addition, Diana is a nutritional therapist and offers the reader tons of practical tips on how to follow a Paleo diet, including a guide for eating out!
This cookbook is loaded with over 100 Whole 9 approved recipes! And guess what?!? I was a recipe contributor! … Along with some of the most inspirational people in the Paleo community, including Mark Sisson, Melissa Joulawan, Michelle Tam and George Bryant. This book is not only packed with delicious and easy Paleo recipes, Kellyann also provides all the information you needed to get started with the Paleo diet. This book includes an overview of all aspects of the Paleo diet including exercise and sleep. Dr. Kellyann also provides practical tips for grocery shopping and pantry stocking. The tone of the book is encouraging and motivating. This is a great book for anyone that wants to try Paleo, but is unsure about where to start.
Fermented: A Four Season Approach to Paleo Probiotic Foods by Jill Ciciarelli
Fermented is an incredibly informative book, that teaches us about why to ferment and how to ferment. I am a fermentation novice, with only knowing how to make kombucha and recently I have started to experiment with homemade raw yogurt. I am beyond excited to jump into this book and start making some more complex and interesting ferments like meats and vegetables. This book covers everything you need to know to start fermenting. The recipes are divided by season. The book is beautifully photographed and has a clean and easy to follow layout.
